Logostarter: Final Piece Evaluation

This is my final logo I am happy with the outcome as it all works well together to represent the company and its product. The logo is appropriate for the target audience of children whilst at the same time it is a strong design which fully communicates what the product is. This would attract adults to buy it on behalf of their children.

The concept behind this design was to show a few layers through the positioning of the type, this shows how the game works with the different layers each side of the window. The transparency works as another way to show the different layers as well as the use of the window as the playground. The black circle and cut out hole represents the magnets and suction cups, I think this only really makes sense after you have seen the game but it is an intriguing aspect.

One thing I really wanted to avoid whilst designing was anything clinical. Although the product would be used for children in hospitals, it is versatile and could be used elsewhere therefore it needed a versatile design. Apart from that I really didn't want it to feel clinical as the children in treatment are still children. The product should look fun and exciting, as well as making them feel like normal children.

The colours are bright and work for both boys and girls, there is no gender stereo type with the use of green and red. The white negative cut out works well especially to show the overlap of reds which create different shades. Everything is in colour, with no black it feels less serious which encourages children to play and interact.

I kept all the aspects of the logo curved as I wanted to keep it child friendly. Sharp edges and corners felt very clinical and not fun. Sharp corners also connote danger around children whilst playing where as rounded corners feel safe. The product is also created up of abstract shapes which are mainly curved. The K almost looks like it is made up of a few of these shapes.

The font I decided to work with was VAG Rounded, I felt this was appropriate both aesthetically and practically because it provided simplistic shapes which are relatable to a childs toy. It also provided a good equal width throughout the letters shape which made it ideal for editing. The font is humanistic, symbolising the companies values. Like the font, the company is well rounded. The concept is strong and stable.
