Design Practice: Type Journal 16 - Packaging

Mammy Jamia’s Pear Preserve uses a classic serif roman font; I believe it is Bodoni. The font really suits the product, it makes it look like an upper-class , expensive product; for the wealthy.  This then implies that it is a better product than a regular pear preserve. The white frame around the text really draws your attention to the type. If it were just the type on the pears then it would fade into the collage and not grab your attention.  The type is perfectly centered so that there is an equal amount of typography on each side. It also means that the white is equally balanced all around the typography which stops it from feeling cramped or off balance.
