Collaborative Practice - Save The Children: Beanstalk Charity

I have begun looking into charities that support and encourage children reading. This will provide a good background knowledge and will show examples of current campaign work. Beanstalk is a national charity who provides one-to-one support in primary schools for children who have fallen behind with their reading. They do this by recruiting and training volunteers.

They seem to have a growing impact on the children in the UK. In the last school year they helped over 8,400 children across England in over 1,200 schools through the help of almost 2,800 reading helpers.

On their website they show the social impact of illiteracy. The figures given really puts in to context how important literacy is. By helping children when they are younger it also helps them in later life, opening up so many doors.
