Design Principles: Type Journal 6 - Type on Walls

This was a piece of typography that made me laugh. I am unsure on whether this works typographically as it uses 5 different fonts which to me seems excess. This style is very hard to get right. I think this piece does read correctly but maybe thats because the 'maybe' kerning has been adjusted to allow for more spacing between the letters so that your eye reads it first. It is easier to read because the letters stand individually and the thin font means there are large counters and bowls so the letter is more recognisable. However because of the sheer bold of the lower case broccoli this pulls the attention to it, this may not be a bad thing as broccoli is the centre of attention in this piece of typography.

The words 'DOESN'T' and 'like' don't work in my opinion because the 'maybe' 'broccoli' and 'you either' all seem to be similar the lower case works and even though the maybe is upper case because of how thin and spaced out it is it works. The broccoli is bold but the lower case and the same top height makes it less daunting. The curved edges do the piece wonders unlike the straight and sharp edges of 'DOESN'T' the word looks to harsh and doesn't fit the house style. It doesn't work with a natural object like broccoli because in nature there are no sharp corners or bold impacts like the 'DOESN'T' which is what makes me feel this font is better suited for a man made product.
