Brief 1 - Frame (Photoshop): Experimenting with Sewing and Paint

One idea which was briefly touched on previously was the idea of creating the skeleton of the leaf by sewing it. Practically this wasn't too hard to create just by using a sewing machine and changing the colour of the thread meant that these two lines could be created. Scanned in the leaf doesn't look as good it does when you are holding it in your hands. This is because the sewn part gives the piece texture which is missed out on on the computer screen. Obviously when it comes to making a frame slip for mass production this method isn't appropriate because it would be impossible to sew each piece and apart from the cost, get them all looking equally good.

I think as much as I like this effect it perhaps isn't practical in the long run and perhaps distracts from the colour. However I will (if I have time) experiment with doing this on the final printed pieces after the photoshop tutorial.
