1. SERIF VS SAN-SERIF
- what is easier to read?
- why did san serif come about?
- why and what type of people argue for which?
2. KEY ASPECTS OF READABILITY AND LEGIBILITY
- definition of each
- explore different font and what makes them more legible
3. HISTORY OF FONT CHANGES
- time line
- social impact on fonts
- gutenburg press
4. POINT SIZES
- their names
- why they can't be changed
For number 5 I originally had trends in colour, which admittedly I do find interesting but it doesn't quite fit with the other 4 questions about type and legibility as they all feed into each other so they won't have to be in defined sections. So because of that I have changed it to The Anatomy of Type.
5. THE ANATOMY OF TYPE
- look into what different parts of letters are called
- why do some fonts have bigger bowls/counters, higher ascenders etc...
LAYOUT:
I can definitely see a potential layout being formed to fit all of this information in (however it may change when I begin researching because it will depend on how much research I get and whether I can link them well).
