Introduction Brief (How to...): Development

Focus today was on designing the back of the paper fortune teller. We had all the information we needed from the previous day. We decided on using the colour teal as it is fresh and vibrant but not overwhelming. Originally we were looking at different shades of green to represent the money side of employment, however it didn't quite seem to fit in with the style we were going for. Teal is a good compromise as it brings in the fresh, new colour of blue with the prosperous side of green. We briefly spoke about creating the text in bullet points so students could easily skim over it. However this idea may work as a poster but because it is going on the back of a paper fortune teller it needs to be able to provide more information to the bullet points inside.

Above is the outcome of today. There are still a few things that need tweaking such as the pie chart which doesn't fit in with the scheme, it looks to formal and distracts the eye as its out of place. However the overall style I am happy with. The layered boxes and pattern fit in well with the logo which was designed by Declan (see below).

This logo works well because it attracts the right audience. We are aiming our leaflet at students to inform them on getting a job. The type is friendly but intriguing. It works well in monochrome which could be a necessity for mass producing flyers. It also allows for any colour to work well and compliment it, the logo is versatile. The plan is to stick this in the centre of the paper fortune teller.

Hopefully the crit tomorrow will help iron out any flaws we currently have and allow us to expand our ideas and potentially create other pieces of work which compliment this design.
